We have a name, but we're not telling you what it is :)

Everything is going well. Lots of baby movements, lots of Dr appointments due to some Behcet's issues.

Had our anatomy scan, baby still has a penis. Perfectly healthy! Have to go back next week to get some follow up pictures, because he wouldn't cooperate.

Pretty much done with all baby related items, just waiting on him to show up in December.

Jonas is pretty excited. He asks me every Friday (the day my week count changes, 21 today!) how big the baby is this week, and what's going on thats important this week.

I have anatomy scan pictures, and will share those later.

Movement!

I felt him move tonight! I'm 13 weeks and a few days.
I was using the doppler to listen to his heartbeat, and all I could hear was a whole lot of him moving around. I heard this huge thump, and sure enough, felt it!
I am sure I wouldn't feel anything if I hadn't been pressing so hard, but I'll take it!
Been working on the nursery. Got one more coat on one wall which I will finish tonight, then I have to cut in walls and corners and get baseboard in.

Baby BOY! and names.

We found out on Monday that we're having a baby boy! Blood tests confirmed it, and no trisomies.
Have out NT scan today to check for other issues but I am not really concerned. My folate is through the roof so the chances of clefts or brain issues aren't high.

We're stuck on 2 names, Maddox and August. I really like both, so it's hard.
Expect another update after NT scan :)

Had a meeting with the high risk Dr today. Nothing really to report, went over her concerns which are my vitamin deficiencies, Behcet's and my age.
Had a surprise ultrasound, too!
Jonas was there and he was so amazed at seeing the baby. It was so precious!
We did the first trimester screening, and the Verifi test which is a DNA test for defects.
We should know the baby's sex next week thanks to this test!
It's going to be really hard because we don't want to know the sex, we're going to have them put it in an envelope and give it to Angela so she can surprise us all.
Unless of course, I cave and have to know right away.
You can see little arms and legs now! So exciting!

Not much going on, for once!

The week before last we had our last appointment with the RE and I was officially released!

This is great news, it means they feel the pregnancy is viable and I no longer need their services. Yay!
I had my first real OB appointment last week.
June 3rd, I have an appointment with the MFM (Maternal fetal medicine, aka high risk Dr) where they will do the blood test to check for abnormalities and if we choose, sex of the baby.
June 11th, I have my big NT scan where they check a pocket of fluid behind the baby's neck and other things like palate, brain presence, and heart defects. Generally, this test has a tendency to give false positives, as it's a risk screening, meaning more testing but since we will have the blood test done, we will already know beforehand.

Thats pretty much it. Pretty boring here :)

Subchorionic Hemorrhage

They reiterated to me it was not a cause for concern. Its small, and they even released me from the RE today so I can move onto OB.
Still hard not to worry!

That said, baby is measuring 7w5d, and HR was 152! So the RE thinks its viable, so my stress level is finally down.. a little.

Baby Names. Yes, already.

So, in order to keep myself from obsessing over all the things that can go badly, I obsess over baby names!
I figure if I get sick of a name in 2 months, I need time for another one so we should probably start early.

Names in black are names we are currently considering. Names in red and ones that we don't agree on. Names crossed out are plain ol' VETOED.

Bold are favorites.

Boy Girl
Wyatt  Abigail
August Eleanor
LoganVictoria
Alexander Cosette
Virgil Eloise
Matthew Edith
Seth Elsie
Elijah Cora
Ethan Lauren
Caleb Anabelle
MOTHER FUCKING OPIE Noelle
Jane
Rose

I vetoed Virgil. I like the name, but not in this day. Jason vetoed Opie :( I dont even know who I married anymore.

We are solid on Abigail.  That's 100% and it has been since I was pregnant with Jonas. The rest are contenders for middle names, and of course I might add to it.  I really like Abigail Rose.

Boys, I like August a lot but I don't think it's masculine enough for Jason. He's still considering it. I like Wyatt a lot, too and Jason doesn't hate it, so there's that!

First Ultrasound picture!

Warning, this has an U/S pic for those of you sensitive to that.

Its not a great picture. The US tech forgot to print out pictures for me and then was with another patient, so I had to get a copy of a copy.
This is the yolk sac. She got some great images of the gestational sac, but I didn't get those :(

Right in the middle, that thing looks like an avacado? Thats ONE gestational sac :) Just one. Not 6 (Looking at you, Helena)

Our history of TTC - this time.

I'm not going to go through the past 8 years, because 1) I am lazy, and 2) I don't remember half of it. So, this will start with when I turned 35 and decided it was time to shit, or get off the pot.

I spent most of my 35th birthday in tears. Jason and I had agreed that if we'd not had another baby by 35, one of us would get fixed.  Now that day had come, and here I was, still the same place I was for the past 8 years.

Jason and I talked, and we decided I would find a new OB and a new Reproductive Endocrinologist.

I went to visit my new OB, and she did my annual pap smear but could not reach my cervix. My pap came back abnormal, so they wanted to do a colposcopy, which is a procedure where they use a special instrument to inspect the cervix and do a biopsy. Again, she couldn't find it.

Since I also needed to have an HSG done (where they check for tubal blockages) she and my new RE decided to do it in the OR where I would be knocked out.

The results were all fine - except I had a blocked right tube, and pretty significant cervical scarring (cervical stenosis)

They cleared out a bit of the scar tissue, and at my followup with the RE, we realized we also had some very slight male factor issues, too.

We decided to do 3 rounds of clomid and then move onto IUI.

Cycle 1 - I had 2 follicles - 17mm and 21 mm. I had a 21 day progesterone check to make sure I ovulated, and it was 1 - I had not ovulated.

Cycle 2, 2 follicles - 15mm and 17mm both on BLOCKED side. My uterine lining was 7 - not optimal. I used a trigger shot (which is a shot of HCG which forced ovulation) and it was a bust.

Cycle 3, 1 18mm follicle, on my blocked side. Lining was 7.9. Failed cycle.

At this point, we were supposed to start IUI but I felt like we hadn't really had a chance because of not ovulating, or them being on the wrong side.
I talked with my RE and told her I couldnt stomach an $800 IUI when we'd not had a real chance.
We switched to Femara and Menopur, which is an injection.

Cycle 1 of that - I had 2 follicles on cycle day (CD) 12. That is way too small, so we decided to check again in 24 hours.
Next US showed  a 14mm, 15mm, and a 17mm! We triggered.
On 7, 8 and 9 DPO (Days post ovulation) I had negative tests. On day 10, I got a positive test, but that night I got really, really ill. I stayed ill for a week!
The test went negative the next day, and we thought it was a fluke.

Cycle 2 - when I went for my day 3 scan (where they check for cysts) they noticed a lot of fluid in my uterus. They suspected the positive I got was a chemical pregnancy, and I got sick because I developed OHSS - Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome.
This can be life threatening - you can read more about it here.

On my CD12 scan of this same cycle, and I had 1 single 21mm follicle.
I suspected it would be a bust.
I triggered on cycle day 13, so I would ovulate day 14 or 15.

With trigger shots, they make pregnancy tests falsely positive, so about a week later, I started taking tests to see if it was out my system.
On 9DPO, I had taken 2 different brands. One was positive, one was negative.
10 DPO I decided to take the same tests, again. BOTH were positive!
I was skeptical, so we decided to wait one more day.

On 11DPO, both were positive and darker!
I called my RE, and we went to have a blood test.
While I waited for them to call me, I decided to go get a digital test. It was negative.
The Dr's nurse called me back and told my HCG level was 9, I was having another chemical and to stop taking the progesterone (which would bring my period)

I refused because I was SO EARLY and told them I wanted a repeat beta.

I went back 4 days later, and I needed it to be 36. it was 112!
I was officially pregnant!

2 days later, at 17 DPO I went for another beta, and it had jumped to 327!

While I was having that blood test, the US tech saw me and said "Well, I guess I will see you in 2 weeks!"
I jokingly told her "You will see me before then if my ovary doesn't stop hurting!"

She insisted on doing an ultrasound to check for cysts, and saw nothing.

Over the weekend, I started hurting really badly and at one point, almost went to the E.R.
That Monday (yesterday) I called them and told them what was going on.

I went back in for another ultrasound.
This time, we (unexpectedly!) saw a sac and yolk! They changed my due date to December 31st. We also realized the pain I've been having was from a hernia.

I've been a little tired but I think that was stress from not knowing what was going on for a week or so. It seems to have passed, and aside from the sore boobs I am still symptom free!

We have the heartbeat scan May 7th :)

Introduction!

I'm Kay. I am 35, married to Jason who is 37. We've been together since 2001, married since 2003. We have an 8 year old, named Jonas.

I was told at a very young age I would never have children. My husband knew this going in, and we were sad but okay with it. We would see about adopting down the line, probably an older child.

In 2004, I had gastric bypass and lost 220 lbs.

In 2005, my gallbladder went bad and I was scheduled to have it removed.

I had been feeling really bad and I'd gone to my PCP a few times, and they had gone as far as checking me for leukemia. Couldnt find anything wrong.

Pre-op testing for my gallbladder showed I was pregnant!

Jonas was born Feb 15th 2006. We started for another one pretty much immediately.

We've had a few breaks - I got really sick in Oct of 2009 and stayed sick for 3 years. No one could find out what was wrong with me. A few hospital stays later, I was diagnosed with Behcet's disease.

While being treated for that, I finally went into remission and we started TTC again.

Then, I got sick again. Fever, chills - I thought I had the flu. I went to the ER and found out I had listeria.

I spent a week in the hospital and came home with an PICC line where I had to give myself IV antiobiotics every 4 hours for 4 weeks.

All is well now, and we've been TTC again since 2012.

In Oct of 2013, I turned 35 and decided to find a new RE, and thats where we are now.

Soon I will update my first visits with the RE and first few cycles.
